⛔Active substance: Ivy leaves dry extract
🔰 What Prospan Cough Syrup is and what it is used for:-
🔘Prospan Cough Syrup is a herbal medicine used to treat catarrhal diseases of the respiratory tract, by its secretolytic, broncho-spasmolytic and cough-relieving effects.
🔘Prospan Cough Syrup is used to improve symptoms of chronic-inflammatory bronchial diseases; acute inflammations of the respiratory tract accompanied by coughing.
⏺️Note: In the event of persistent complaints or the appearance of shortness of breath, fever as well as purulent or bloody expectoration, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
🔰 Before you take Prospan Cough Syrup:
🔘Do not take Prospan Cough Syrup if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of Prospan Cough Syrup
🔘Take special care with Prospan Cough Syrup:
🏮Children:
◼️Prospan Cough Syrup should be used in children under the age of one only after having consulted a doctor.
◼️Compared with older children, this age group should be monitored very carefully when being given Prospan Cough Syrup, as particular attention must be paid to possible diarrhoea and vomiting.
◼️Please also read the notes contained in the section "Side effects".
🔘Taking Prospan Cough Syrup together with other medicines:
◼️Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking / using or have recently taken / used any other medicines, including medicines obtained without prescription.
◼️No interactions have become known so far.
◼️However, no studies have been carried out.
🏮Pregnancy and breast-feeding:
◼️Medicines should generally be taken during pregnancy and breast-feeding only after having previously consulted a doctor.
◼️However, there have not been sufficient studies performed on pregnant women and mothers who breastfeed.
🏮Driving and using machines:
◼️No special precautions are needed.
🏮Important information on certain other ingredients of Prospan Cough Syrup:
🔘Contains sorbitol
◼️When used as directed, each dose of Prospan Cough Syrup contains up to 1.9 g sorbitol.
◼️Please take Prospan Cough Syrup only after consultation with a doctor if you have a known intolerance to certain sugars.
🔰 How to take Prospan Cough Syrup
◼️Always take Prospan Cough Syrup exactly as described in this leaflet.
◼️You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
◼️Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is:
🟦Children bellow 6 years of age:
🟪Single dose:-
2.5ml corresponding to 17.5mg ivy leaves dry extract
🟪Total daily dose:-
5ml (2 x 2.5ml) corresponding to 35 mg ivy leaves dry extract
🟦Children aged 6-12:
🟪Single dose :-
5ml corresponding to 35 mg ivy leaves dry extract
🟪Total daily dose:-
10ml (2 x 5 ml) corresponding to 70mg ivy leaves dry extract
🟦Children aged 12 and above and adult:
🟪Single dose:-
5ml corresponding to 35 mg ivy leaves dry extract
🟪Total daily dose:-
15ml (3 x 5ml) corresponding to 105mg ivy leaves dry extract
🔰Method of use:-
◼️To be taken using the enclosed measuring cup.
◼️Take the solution in the mornings, (at noon) and in the evenings.
◼️Always shake the bottle before use! 🔶How long you should keep taking Prospan® Cough Syrup:-
◼️Length of treatment is dependent on the nature and severity of your condition.
◼️However, even in the case of mild inflammation of the respiratory tract, treatment should last for one week at least.
◼️In the interests of ensuring that your recovery is permanent and complete, it is recommended that you should keep taking Prospan® for another 2-3 days after your symptoms have disappeared.
◼️if you have the impression that the effect of Prospan® Cough Syrup is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
🔶if you take more Prospan® Cough Syrup than you should:
◼️Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
◼️Ingestion of significantly ‘higher amounts (more than three times the daily dose) may lead to nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea. in this case, you should consult your doctor.
🔶if you forget to take Prospan® Cough Syrup:
◼️DO not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
◼️Simply continue to take Prospan® cough SyfUP as prescribed by your doctor or as directed in this leaflet.
🔰 Possible side effects:-
◼️Like all medicines, Prospan® Cough Syrup can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
💡Very sare (Less than 1 in 10,000 patients treated)
◼️Allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, swelling, skin redness or itching may Occur after taking medicines containing ivy.
💡Uncommon (1 to 10 in 1,000 patients treated)
◼️in sensitive patients gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea may occur, and there may be a laxative effect due to the sorbitol content.
◼️if any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
🔰 How to store Prospan® Cough Syrup
◼️ Keep out of the reach and sight of children! store below 25°C.
◼️Do not use Prospan® Cough Syrup after the expiry date which is stated on the outer carton and bottle after ExP.
◼️The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
🔶Shelf life after first opening the bottie: 6 months after opening.

🔶 What Prospan® Cough Syrup contains ◼️The active substance is: ivy leaves dry extract
◼️ 100 ml solution contain 0.7 g ivy leaves dry extract (5 — 7.5 : 1).
◼️The other ingredients are:
✒️potassium sorbate (preservative), anhydrous citric acid, xanthan gum, flavouring, sorbitol solution 70% (crystallising), purified water.
◼️2.5 ml solution contain 0.963 g of the sugar substitute sorbitol = 0.08 BU.
